IBDP Year 6 Programme (for ACS Independent Students)
The IBDP Year 6 Programme provides students with written practice and regular
feedback, which is often the missing link to getting a distinction in Language and
Literature.
Our course promises a rigorous approach to the following core components, with guidance and

Individual Oral (IO)
A 15-minute oral presentation connecting a literary and non-literary text to a global issue
Our programme introduces the tips and techniques that students should employ for their IO, along with guidance and oral practice.
Paper 1: Guided Textual Analysis
Analysing an unseen text (literary or non-literary) in a written commentary
Students will learn how to apply the structure, techniques and language to write a commentary across various text types. There will be ample written practice and personalised feedback to refine their analysis.
Paper 2: Comparative Essay
Writing an essay comparing two literary works studied
Perhaps the trickiest paper to master, our programme targets fixed literary texts, imparting the skills and techniques required for writing and structuring a comparative literature essay. There will be ample written practice across themes, and personalised feedback to refine their analysis.
IBDP Year 3 Programme (for ACS Independent Students)
The IBDP Year 3 Programme builds a strong foundation in Language
Arts, equipping students with the analytical and writing skills they will need
for the upper years.
Through consistent practice and targeted feedback, our course develops confidence across the
following core components:
Paper 1: Guided Language Analysis
Analysing unseen poetry and prose passages in a written commentary
Students develop the ability to closely read and respond to unseen poetry and prose, building a structured approach to commentary writing through regular practice and individualised feedback.
Paper 2: Literary Essay Writing
Writing essays on set literary texts studied
Often regarded as the most demanding component, this module focuses on crafting well-structured essays on set literary texts. Students practise across a range of themes and topics and receive detailed feedback to sharpen their analyses.

Because fixed literary texts differ between schools, we are unable to offer mixed classes at the Year 5 and Year 6 levels.
