Ms Chew was the pioneer teacher at The Learning Lab, and was indispensable growing its brand name with top-quality teacher training processes and instructing future leaders in the English language. At the Lab, her responsibilities and portfolio included:

  • Writing and supervising the English curricula and resources across primary and secondary levels. Ms Chew helped develop and refine the curriculum, as well as train and mentor curriculum writers during her 13 years at the Lab.
  • Educating hundreds of children and teenagers, many of whom were under her care and guidance for 6 to 8 years. Numerous of Ms Chew’s students have gone on to pursue their tertiary education in top local universities as well as Ivy League level institutions in the UK and US. It gives Ms Chew immense joy that she is still in touch with several of her ex-students, many of whom have pursued career paths that they are passionate about.
  • Establishing the programme and processes for training all English teachers who came through the doors of the Lab, and mentoring several Math and Science teachers from the school’s genesis in 1997 [officially founded in 2001] to 2011 when she left.

Thus, Ms Chew has established herself as a highly reputable figure in the industry for the 13 years that she was with the Lab.

Ms Chew brings to Creative Campus over 25 years’ experience in English instruction and curriculum development across the Primary, Secondary and Junior College levels. She has also trained and mentored over 200 teachers in the course of her career with the Lab and Creative Campus.

Ms Chew was a litigator for several years with the highly regarded law firms Harry Elias & Partners and Khattar Wong Partnership before her love for the English language and teaching bade her to become an educator and teacher instruction. With her legal experience, Ms Chew is particularly passionate about establishing robust rapport with her charges, paying special attention to delivering dynamic and engaging lessons across real-world topics. What she loves most is cultivating her students’ verbal presentation skills and essay writing competencies.

What Our Director Says

On celebrating each child’s uniqueness:

In my experience, students are frequently told their shortcomings and weaknesses, then badgered to make improvements. Unfortunately, more often than not, the child isn't taught how to improve, only that he has to "stop making those mistakes" and "work harder". Such broad strokes do little to enhance a child's ability, confidence and grades.

At Creative Campus, our interactive and engaging lessons enable our teachers to understand how each child is wired and what makes him tick. Our experience and compassion allow us to quickly identify a child's weaknesses, then prescribe the suitable methods and techniques to help him refine his work.

More crucially, we understand and celebrate the fact that every child has his strengths and uniqueness as well. We make the effort to treat each child as an individual and not a mere face in the crowd. In this way, we work with, rather than against, each student's unique traits. After all, if a child is aware of his respective strengths, he can wield their powers and gain immense confidence as well! As such, at Creative Campus, lessons and skills are never 'force fed'; rather, we personalise our time, attention and feedback to work with each child as a distinct individual, improving on the weaker areas while honing strengths--this not only develops your child's English potential, but also builds his self-esteem. And that goes a much longer way toward his success, today and in the future.
