For international students, the gateway to the Singapore education system begins with the Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ). Designed to assess English competency, the CEQ allows 7 to 12 year olds to enter local schools under the Ministry of Education (MOE).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What is the CEQ?

The Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) assesses if an international student is suitable to join local schools. Your child must:
a) take the test within 12 months before the month of AEIS application; and
b) meet or exceed the required scores before he/she can register for the AEIS-Primary Mathematics test.

2. Can I not take the CEQ now and do the other exams first?

No,, the CEQ is a compulsory test to pass before applying for other tests. From April 2022, the CEQ is a requirement for admissions into MOE schools. Visit the MOE website for more information https://www.moe.gov.sg/international-students/aeis
